Mahfud Affirms The Ngaji Teacher Incentive Program For All Religions

JAKARTA - Candidate for vice president number 3 Mahfud MD emphasized that the incentive program for Koran teachers applies to all religions in Indonesia.

"Later, all religious teachers in Catholicism, Hinduism, Buddhism will be registered. If there are such things as madrasas, for example teaching them for hours a day, how many days a week, just count them later. If someone is like that, the same," Mahfud said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, February 6.

Mahfud explained that his commitment to the presidential candidate Ganjar Pranowo was based on the absence of parties to arrange permanent fees for Koran teachers in Indonesia.

"The welfare of Koran teachers is our program. So, many Koran teachers teach in madrasas, teach in mosques, score smart people, but no one takes care of their salaries," said Mahfud after visiting Darussalam Tegal Rejo Islamic Boarding School (Ponpes), North Bengkulu Regency, Bengkulu Province, Tuesday.

Therefore, he said, Koran teachers who have contributed to efforts to educate the nation's children will get wages so that they can live their daily lives.

"So, we programmed it to provide a strict honorarium to Koran teachers so that there is provision for daily life, so that the Koran is also not only free to teach, but there is also an honorarium, there is a decent wage. We provide it," Mahfud promised.

Meanwhile, Mahfud during his visit to the boarding school advised the students to be optimistic in welcoming the future. According to Mahfud, currently pesantren graduates can participate in leading the country.

In addition, Mahfud also advised the students to always maintain the legacy of the struggle of the ulama and the founders of the nation.

"What I ordered earlier, Indonesia must be jointly guarded as a legacy of the struggles of the ulama and the founders of other countries who want Indonesia to unite in the differences of Bhinneka Tunggal Ika. That is what we have been caring for so far as a nation that loves the homeland," he said.
