TANJUNG SELOR - The High Court (PT) of North Kalimantan Province (Kaltara) through the Tanjung Selor District Court (PN), Bulungan Regency, proposed an increase in status from class I B to I A.

That way the PN in the provincial capital of Kaltara can handle corruption cases (Tipikor) and the Industrial Relations Court (PHI).

This was said by the Chairman of the Kaltara High Court (PT), Lilik Mulyadi after inaugurating and taking the oath of office of Deputy Chairman of PT Kaltara, Andreas Purwantyo Setiadi, Monday, February 5.

"The ad hoc judges at PT Kaltara have been formed, but have not been able to try cases of corruption (tipikor) and the Industrial Relations Court (PHI). Because, the status of the PN is still IB," said Lilik Mulyadi.

The High Court, continued Lilik, is currently only able to conduct an appeal case trial which was transferred from the local District Court.

"Hopefully this year (2024) the Tanjung Selor District Court will soon advance to class IA, currently all the positions of judges including the deputy chairman of PT have been filled," he said.

In addition to the Tanjung Selor District Court, his party has also proposed an increase in status at the Tarakan District Court and Nunukan which has met the requirements.

"Regarding the trial of corruption cases and PHI, it is still being held or handled at PT Kaltim (East Kalimantan", he said.

Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the Tanjung Selor Class IB District Court, Jan Oktavianus, admitted that he had submitted a proposal to increase grade 1A and the specialities of the Corruption Court and PHI to the Ministry of Administrative Reform and Bureaucratic Reform (Kemenpan-RB).

"This proposal has been validated by the Ministry of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform from December 11 to December 13, 2023," explained Oktavianus.

Tanjung Selor District Court is waiting for the results of the evaluation from the Kemenpan-RB. It is hoped that the proposal will be approved by the central government.

"Yes, we hope that the proposal can be approved by the Ministry of Administrative Reform and Bureaucratic Reform," hoped Oktavianus

The ratio of case settlement productivity at the Tanjung Selor District Court has now reached 92.80 percent of 338 cases such as criminal and civil terms for the January-December 2023 period.

"PN Tanjung Selor also won 2nd place in the evaluation of the implementation of the case tracing information system (EIS) for the Class IB District Court category throughout Indonesia with cases of 1 to 500," he explained.

According to him, the achievements and success of this court cannot be separated from the contributions of its officials and staff, including deputy chairmen, judges, clerks, secretaries, young clerks, and substitute clerks.

"They work hard, day and night tirelessly to solve every case," he said.
