Sindir Bansos Distribution, Hasto: For The Sake Of Electoral Interests

JAKARTA - Secretary General of the PDI-P (PDIP), Hasto Kristiyanto, insinuated the distribution of social assistance (bansos) from the government, which was solely for electoral boosters.

In fact, the provision of social assistance was carried out by cutting the budget of each Indonesian ministry by 5 percent.

"Well, now there are efforts to use social assistance for electoral convenience until the ministry's budget is cut by 5 percent for electoral," said Hasto to reporters at the Ganjar-Mahfud Grand Campaign event at Gelora Bung Karno, Saturday, Fabruari 3.

The distribution of social assistance should be solely for the benefit of the people. Because the government must be present to help the difficulties of every Indonesian citizen.

"We have to look at the greater national interest, so distributing social assistance to the people shows the people's commitment," said Hasto.

If the social assistance has been used for personal gain, said Hasto, it will become a big violation. This is because the source of the social assistance funds comes from the payment of the rakat tax. Thus, social assistance cannot be politicized for personal gain.

"This shows serious violations because the people's budget social assistance from our taxes must return to the people appropriately," said Hasto.
