Kompolnas Supervises National Police Netrality To Secure 2024 Election

JAKARTA - The National Police Commission (Kompolnas) closely supervises the neutrality of the National Police in every stage of holding the 2024 General Election.

"Of course, in vaccinating the neutrality of the National Police in the election, we took several steps," said Kompolnas member Poengky Indarti, quoted by ANTARA, Friday, February 2.

Supervision steps taken by Kompolnas are to supervise a number of regional police, police, and police stations.

This supervision is to ensure that the police are completely neutral. Including certain actions that need to be taken if for example there are wives, children or family members who participate in the legislative candidate," he explained.

The second step is to ensure that the Brata Operation 2023-2024 runs well, by anticipating that threats to security and public order (Kamtibmas) do not become a real disturbance.

"For example, promoting patrols, including cyber patrols to prevent hoax news, anticipating disaster-prone areas and prone to riots," he said.

Then, in the third step, Kompolnas also called for the use of the Steady Brata Operation budget in a professional and transparent manner.

Kompolnas juga menyerukan sanksi tegas apabila ada anggota Polri yang diduga memalapkan anggaran Operasi Tentas Barat, seperti yang terjadi di Polres Kupang, NTT.

"We also call on the public to report to Kompolnas if there are allegations of neutrality among members of the National Police and allegations of corruption in the Mantap Brata Operation budget," he said.

From the results of the supervision carried out, continued Poengky, one of them was supervision at the North Maluku Regional Police at the end of December 2023.

In the supervision, Kompolnas emphasized that the neutrality of the National Police must be maintained properly. Which means that members of the National Police do not practice politics, are not elected and vote.

"But for retired Polri officers and families of Polri members who have civil status, for example, wives, children, families, they can practice politics," he said.

For this reason, continued Poengky, if there are members of the National Police whose wives or children or families are registered as one of the legislative candidates, DPR, or presidential and vice-presidential candidates, then the members of the National Police must still be neutral.

"You can't help and provide support using Polri institution facilities," said Poengky.
