TNI-Polri Still Chasing KKB For Police-Owned Firearms In Pucak, Central Papua

JAKARTA - TNI-Polri personnel are still conducting sweeps to find the firearms (senpi) seized by members of the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) of Puncak Regency, Central Papua.

One rifle was seized by the SS1-V1 type, along with one magazine containing 20 5.56 mm caliber bullets.

"The attack occurred when members on duty at the KP3 air [Polsek KP3 Aminggaru Ilaga Airport] were in the Ilaga market complex," said Head of Public Relations of the Papua Police Kombes Pol Ignatius Benny Ady Prabowo, in Jayapura, Papua, Friday 2 February, confiscated by Antara.

He explained that the pursuit and sweeping of the perpetrators of the confiscation had been carried out since Thursday 1 Fabruari, in order to regain the weapon.

From the report received, initially the perpetrators of the confiscation took away their guns and ammunition to Mundidok village, Gome District, which is the headquarters of the KKB.

"During the pursuit, there was a shootout with KKB members around the village," said Benny.

Benny admitted that the identity of the perpetrators of the confiscation of guns had been identified by members of the Puncak Police. "People are asked to remain careful and vigilant in their activities in order to avoid crimes that may be committed by the group," he said.
