Ganjar Says Farmers Are Under Pressure Because Corn Prices Are Soaring

PALEMBANG - Presidential Candidate number three, Ganjar Pranowo, said the price of corn in a number of areas had soared. As a result, many farmers are depressed.

This was heard by Ganjar after he had a direct meeting with the breeders. He said the high price of corn resulted in more expensive animal feed and could harm them.

"Yesterday we spoke with the breeders, they said that they were under heavy pressure because the corn was difficult, the animal feed was expensive," said Ganjar after visiting Pasar Palimo and 16 Ilir Market, Palembang, South Sumatra, Friday, February 2.

Not only corn, Ganjar also highlighted reducing subsidized fertilizers for farmers. He said, if not noticed, the problem of national food security could arise.

The reduction in fertilizer, he continued, was felt in several areas. "Yesterday we also met with the community, including those in South Sumatra, but a few months ago I met in North Sumatra, in West Kalimantan yesterday regarding farmers as well as fertilizer problems," said the former Governor of Central Java.

For the South Sumatra region, Ganjar highlighted it because there is actually a subsidiary of Pupuk Indonesia, namely PT Pusri Palembang. So, this problem in the future will be his concern if he is elected with Mahfud MD in the 2024 presidential election.
