PAPUA - Papuan Police have pocketed the whereabouts of the perpetrators of the seizure of firearms (senpi) belonging to police officers from the Puncak Police Air Port Security Implementation Unit (KP3).

Head of Public Relations of the Papua Police, Kombes Ignatius Benny Prabowo, said the perpetrator was hiding in Mundidok Village, Gome District, Puncak Regency, Central Papua.

"From the report revealed, the perpetrator, after seizing the gun held by a member of the National Police, fled to Mundidok Village," he said in Jayapura, Thursday, February 1, which was confiscated by Antara.

He said the incident of confiscation of a gun belonging to the police began when the Head of the KP3 Air Police Post, Ipda Slamet M. Korisano, along with two other personnel, wanted to deliver a motorbike belonging to the BKD Service from Ilaga Airport to the market complex using a truck.

When he arrived at the scene, suddenly he was attacked by an unknown person (OTK) who immediately opened the truck door and took the firearms belonging to the Police personnel quickly.

One member, Bripda Paulus Ongirwalu, tried to arrest the perpetrator, but the person concerned managed to escape with a firearm.

"A few moments later there was a shootout when the TNI-Polri security forces tried to arrest the perpetrators," said Benny.

Polres Puncak merupakan salah satu Polres yang berada di Provinsi Papua Tengah, bersama Polres Nabire, Polres Puncak Jaya, Polres Dogiyai, Polres Deiyai, Polres Paniai dan Polres Intan Jaya.

Meanwhile, Mundidok Village is the headquarters of the Armed Criminal Group (KKB).
