Metro Police Chief Calls APDESI Demonstration Unreasonable: Bring Godam

JAKARTA - Metro Jaya Police Chief Inspector General Karyoto said that the demonstration by the All-Indonesian Village Government Association (APDESI) was no longer reasonable. This is because the masses actually brought a rod or metal hammer during the expressing of opinions in public.

"It's no longer natural when people do their right to express their aspirations but they carry tools like.. if the term I am stupid (big iron alcohol)," Karyoto told reporters, Wednesday, January 31.

The Godem was used by the protesters to break the concrete. Then, thrown at the police in charge of securing the demonstration.

In addition, the masses also damaged a small fence outside the DPR RI Building. Therefore, Polda Metro Jaya will investigate the vandalism.

"Yes, of course (investigated), we have documentation but it's slowly," he said.

The investigation was carried out by tracing photos or videos when the vandalism occurred. Through the documentation of the demonstration, it will be known who the perpetrator was from the destruction of the fence outside the DPR RI Building.

For now, Karyoto continued, the police did not secure any of the mass demonstrations. However, as the investigation process progresses, later there will be legal accountability related to the destruction.

"Yes, until now there is none, not yet there. Later it will allow us to see the damage, we ask for accountability," said Karyoto.
