JAKARTA - The Prabowo-Gibran National Campaign Team (TKN) assessed that the energy transition plan if the presidential-cawapres candidate pair Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka won would not have an impact in the form of reducing employment opportunities.

Deputy Chairperson of TKN Prabowo-Gibran, Eddy Soeparno explained, jobs from Steam Power Plants (PLTU) can be maintained because his party believes that technological developments will make the process of capturing PLTU carbon emissions cheaper.

"Technology to capture carbon emissions from PLTU in the form of coal is getting longer, economically, yes, we can implement it because it will be cheaper," said Eddy when met after attending a discussion session entitled "Capital Connect: Indonesia Elections & Economics" in Central Jakarta (Jakpus), Tuesday, January 30, confiscated by Antara.

In addition, according to him, the early retirement process of PLTU is not easy because it requires a large amount of money and needs to consider new and renewable energy (EBT) which is ready to replace bricks.

He added that the EBT development process can go hand in hand with the use of coal for the operation of PLTU which can capture carbon emissions.

"The important thing is that there is no carbon emission, that's what's important. If you want it from coal, you want it from garbage, you want it from biomass, that's the second problem but the carbon can't be," said Eddy.

Therefore, his party believes that in addition to employment by the green job sector, employment in the fossil energy sector, especially PLTU, can still be maintained if carbon emission capture technology can be realized as a whole.

"(The work force) is absorbed by a green job and will be maintained by the current PLTU if indeed the adoption of the technology can be done quickly to capture carbon emissions," said Eddy.

Eddy said Prabowo-Gibran remains committed not to build a new PLTU and continue the existing PLTU early retirement efforts.

Eddy explained that the presidential candidate pair Prabowo-Gibran also offered the use of transmission to expand the electricity network sourced from gas as a transitional energy from fossil-based to renewable energy.

"So the gas network will be further strengthened throughout Indonesia, including the transmission, how can we bring electricity from areas that have an electricity surplus in areas that lack electricity," he said.
