Regarding Jokowi Gemar For Social Assistance Ahead Of The Election, This Is What Puan Maharani Said

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives who is also Chairman of the PDI-P (PDIP) DPP Puan Maharani responded to the distribution of social assistance (bansos) by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) ahead of the 2024 General Election. He emphasized that the social assistance provided by Jokowi was assistance from the State for its people.

"Let the people judge. According to the rules, it is an effort to reduce poverty for the welfare of the people," said Puan when asked for a response by reporters.

This was conveyed by him after visiting a pottery handicraft center in Pagerjurang Hamlet, Melikan Village, Wedi District, Klaten, Central Java, Tuesday, January 30. This is the umpteenth time that Puan has made a visit to Central Java.

Puan Maharani also emphasized that the social assistance provided by Jokowi recently in a number of areas was not a personal gift. "The assistance is for the people given by the state. That is indeed what must be done in alleviating poverty," said the first woman who served as Chair of the DPR RI.

"People can judge that what is being done is something that the state must do for its people," continued Puan.

Bung Karno's grandson is optimistic that Central Java will remain a bull cage. Puan believes that the PDIP that carries the Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud Md pair will still be victorious in Central Java. "God willing, God willing, Central Java will remain the bull cage. We will see, because the people must already have the best choice for Central Java," he said.

When asked by reporters about Jokowi's effect on Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka's electability, Puan did not want to bother. Puan also did not want to comment much on the possibility of a coalition between the Ganjar-Mahfud pair and Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar if the presidential election entered the second round.

"(About Jokowi's effect for Prabowo-Gibran) Let the people judge. We will see (the potential of the coalition) later," said the Advisory Council of TPN Ganjar-Mahfud.

Puan also responded casually to Jokowi eating meatballs with Prabowo on the sidelines of a visit in Magelang. "Yes, maybe it's laper, that's why I eat," Puan replied to reporters with laughter from the group.
