Missing Persons In Gede Pangrango Through Illegal Paths And Looking For Mustika

BOGOR - The Gunung Gede Pangrango National Park Center (TNGGP) confirmed that dozens of missing people who got lost on Mount Pangrango entered the area through illegal routes. Pilgrims disappeared while looking for mustika in Curug Jambe.

Head of the TNGGP Center, Sapto Aji Prabowo, explained that the TNGGP climbing route has three official doors. Namely Cibodas, Gunungputri, Cianjur Regency and Selabintana, Sukabumi Regency.

The climbers who got lost enter through Cibedug Village, Ciawi District, Bogor Regency, Saturday (27/1) at around 16.00 WIB.

"Currently, all climbing activities to Mount Gede and Mount Pangrango are closed from December 30, 2023 to March 31, 2024," said Sapto Aji Prabowo.

The closure aims for the safety of visitors considering that the weather is predicted to be extreme and ecosystem recovery naturally without any disturbance from massive human activity, especially climbing.

The reason the climber who got lost after desperate to break through the Mount Pangrango was revealed. They are the congregation of the Buni Kasih Council, who are hunting Mustika in Curug Jambe.

This was revealed by the Head of Ciawi Police, Kompol Agus Hidayat. After the climbers were found and evacuated, it was revealed the reason they started climbing on Saturday, January 27 at around 16.00 WIB.

"They are the congregation of the Buni Kasih Council led by Mama Indra with the aim of hunting Mustika in Curug Jambe. They climb past Cibedug," said Agus Hidayat.

The joint SAR team found them in the Pogor Block, Cibedug Village, Ciawi District, on Monday, January 29, 2024 at around 12.00 WIB, safe. After collecting their data, there were 16 people.

"They want to make a pilgrimage. Initially the report came from one of the climbers' children, that his father was lost on Mount Pangrango," said Agus Hidayat.

Currently, the Climbers are in the handling of the medical team and will be sent home according to their respective addresses and all are in good condition.
