JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts extreme weather that could trigger a hydrometeorological disaster that could potentially occur in a number of areas of Central Java (Central Java) on 29-31 January 2024. Furthermore, he said areas that have the potential for extreme weather on Monday, January 29, include Banjarnegara, Banyumas, Batang, Boyolali, Brebes, Cilacap, Demak, Jepara, Karanganyar, Kebumen, Kendal, Klaten, Kudus, Magelang Regency/City, Pati, Pekalongan Regency, Purbalingga, Purworejo, Salatiga City, Semarang Regency/City, Sukoharjo, Surakarta City, Sragen, Tegal Regency, Temanggung, Wonogiri, Wonosobo, and surrounding areas. Meanwhile, areas that have the potential for extreme weather on Tuesday, January 30, include Batang, Blora, Brebes, Boyolali, Grobogan, Jepara, Karanganyar, Kendal, Klaten, Kudus, Magelang Regency/City, Pekalongan Regency, Pemalang, Purworejo, Salatiga City, Semarang Regency, Sragen, Tegal Regency, Temanggung, Wonogiri, Wonosobo, and surrounding areas.

Furthermore, on Wednesday, January 31, extreme weather has the potential to occur in Banjarnegara, Batang, Banyumas, Blora, Boyolali, Brebes, Cilacap, Grobogan, Karanganyar, Kendal, Klaten, Magelang Regency/City, Pekalongan Regency, Pemalang, Purbalingga, Sragen, Sukoharjo, Surakarta City, Tegal Regency, Temanggung, Wonogiri, Wonosobo, and surrounding areas. In this regard, Teguh appealed to the public to remain alert to potential extreme weather on January 29-31 which could trigger hydrometeorological disasters such as floods, landslides, and strong winds. "If there is heavy rain for more than an hour, people living in disaster-prone areas are advised to be able to evacuate independently to safe places to minimize disaster risk," he said.
