Information From The Family, The Woman Who Died Plunged Into The Well Has Repeatedly Tried Suicide

The joint SAR team evacuated the body of a woman who allegedly committed suicide by throwing herself into a well in Sumberrejo Hamlet, Jepara Regency, Central Java, today. Head of the Semarang SAR Office, Budiono, said that victim S (59) was suspected of deliberately throwing himself into the well in the yard of his house. According to the family, the victim had tried several times to end his life. "The family had been looking for victims who had been missing since dawn," he said at the evacuation site, quoted from Antara, Monday, January 29. The SAR officers who received the report then sent a team equipped with supporting equipment. Before descending into the well with a depth of about 17 meters, he said, officers confirmed that there was no toxic gas in it. The diameter of the well, which is only 70 centimeters, he said, is also an obstacle because it has to adjust to small-bodied officers who will be lowered to the bottom of the well. The process of evacuating the victim's body from the well takes about an hour.

After being removed, S's body was then handed over to the family for burial.
