Airlangga: The Rights Of The President Of Campaign Are Guaranteed By The Election Law

The General Chairperson of the Golkar Party, Airlangga Hartarto, stated that the President's alignment is guaranteed by the constitution and the election law.

"So it's nothing new," said Airlangga in Medan as reported by ANTARA, Friday, January 26.

He said that in Indonesian history starting from President Bung Karno being PMI, President Suharto of the Golkar Party President Habibi Golkar Party, Megawati PDIP, Gusdur PKB.

"It was something ordinary, abroad when President Obama became president, he was 'endorsese' Hilary Clinton," said Airlangga.

Previously, President Joko Widodo emphasized that his statement some time ago regarding the President being allowed to campaign was raised to answer journalists' questions and in accordance with the provisions of the law.

"That's a question from journalists about whether the minister may campaign or not, I convey the provisions of the legislation," said Joko Widodo in a statement delivered via video from the Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java, Friday, as monitored in Jakarta.

The President then showed a paper showing the provisions of Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning Elections.

I point out this (showing paper). Law Number 7 of 2017 clearly states in Article 299 that the president and vice president have the right to carry out campaigns, clear? " said the President.

He emphasized that what he conveyed some time ago regarding the President being allowed to carry out campaigns was a provision contained in the Election Law.

"That's what I convey the provisions regarding the Election Law. Don't take it anywhere. Then article 281 is also clear, that campaigns, elections that include the President and Vice President must meet the provisions, not use facilities in positions, except security facilities, and undergo leave outside of state responsibility," he said.
