Chairman Of Commission VIII DPR Proposes Hajj Quota Add 10 Thousand

JAKARTA - Chairman of Commission VIII DPR RI Marwan Dasopang suggested that Indonesia get an additional 10,000 quota, from the original hajj quota of 221,000 as conveyed by the Indonesian Ministry of Religion.

According to Marwan, the consideration of adding this quota is because many Indonesians have waited too long for the list of hajj queues.

This proposal was conveyed by Marwan Dasopang in a coordination meeting for the preparation of the Hajj Supervisory Team with Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Sufmi Dasco Ahmad in Banggar Room, Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, January 7.

"I want to convey the chairman, the psychology of our congregation is actually many who feel that they are no longer performing the pilgrimage because the age factor is old. The waiting list is still long. If it is still possible for the chairman to be pushed by the government to increase the quota, if there are at least 10 thousand additional quotas," said Marwan.

"We have prepared around 5,000 pilgrims, the value of benefits is still there. But another 5,000 must be attached to the minister's policy article to the special haj, if the additional 5,000 are still strong, the value of our benefits is still strong. Usually, if the additional quota is certainly between the chairman's governments. So of course we are very happy to hear the news that the president is monitoring too and we entrust additional quota greetings," he continued.

Marwan explained, Indonesia received 221,000 quotas in the 2025 hajj season. From 221,000, 8 percent or 17,680 quotas were taken to become special Hajj pilgrims.

"But what is managed by the government in 203,320 is purely regular. That is what the congregation really does. Then there are 1,572 regional Hajj officers and 685 KBHU supervisors. This quota, which is 203,320, is the object of our supervision because in the last special committee, we found that the replacement scheme for the elderly mentoring seat was misused by the organizers," he explained.

"So the rules haven't left yet, they are attached to the elderly even though they have nothing to do with it. There is no need to replace the seats there. So there are people from afar who come directly. The indication is that there are levies from the testimony concerned," he added.

Therefore, the PKB legislator hopes that there will be support in the supervision of which pilgrims are entitled to leave so as not to become jealous and even become a problem in the field.

"Regarding the figure that has been decided in Saudi, which is the object of our supervision, we really discussed accommodation in Mecca, accommodation in Medina. We have decided that on average, the accommodation in Mecca is actually in an area near the Grand Mosque, while the price far from Haralmain is cheaper. But what is often a problem is the placement of pilgrims," he said.

Marwan said the House of Representatives Commission VIII agreed on a capacity of 3 people in one room. However, in the field, there is often one room containing 4-5 congregants.

"So it becomes the object of our supervision because it results in the figures paid by the government," said Marwan.
