Bawaslu Continues The Basic Food Case Containing The Name Of A Candidate To The Bintan Police

TANJUNGPINANG - Bawaslu Bintan Regency, Riau Islands (Kepri) has forwarded the case of alleged distribution of food packages containing the name card of one of the DPRD legislative candidates to the local Police.

"That's right. We have forwarded this case to the Bintan Police, Thursday (25/1)," said Head of Bawaslu Bintan Sabrima Putra, quoted by ANTARA, Friday, January 26.

This delegation is based on the results of discussions and plenary meetings conducted by the integrated law enforcement center team (Gakkumdu) on Wednesday (25/1).

In addition, he said, this decision also refers to Bawaslu Regulation (Perbawaslu) Number 3 of 2023 concerning the center for integrated law enforcement for general elections.

According to him, there were four reported people in this case, namely the initials J, Y, A and IG. However, he did not elaborate further on the roles of each reported party.

"The investigative team is still exploring the roles of each reported party," he said.

Sabrima explained that the case was followed up by Bawaslu, after receiving public reports regarding the distribution of food packages assistance from the National Amil Zakat Agency (Baznas) of Bintan Regency, Tuesday (5/12), for the people of Bintan Buyu Village, Teluk Bintan District, through the Head of RT 10/RW 05.

According to him, several food aid packages were infiltrated by the name card of one of the candidate candidates for the Bintan Regency DPRD from the Golkar Party, Elyza Riani.

The card contains a photo of the person concerned along with the sentence "I ask for prayers and support from the Bintan DPRD" by voting number 9, electoral district (dapil) one, Gunung Kijang District, Toapaya District, Teluk Bintan District and Teluk Sebong District.

"After receiving the report, we immediately moved to examine witnesses to collect evidence related to this case," said Sabrima.

The case of distributing Baznas food packages containing legislative name cards has been registered with Number: 002/Reg/TM/PL/Reg/10.04/1/2024. In the process, Bawaslu Bintan has asked for information from 33 people consisting of expert witnesses, inventors to reported parties.

As a result, he said, this case rose to the level of investigation because there were allegations of violations of election crimes.
