JAKARTA - The Ministry of Communication and Information (Kominfo) targets the establishment of a personal data protection supervisory agency (PDP) to be completed in the second quarter (Q2) or the end of June 2024.
"According to the mandate of the law, we have prepared a new institution through the Presidential Regulation. The personal data protection supervisory agency will carry out its duties as stated in Law number 27 of 2022 concerning Personal Data Protection (PDP). The PDP Law contains 16 chapters and 76 articles which were inaugurated in the 2022 quarter, precisely in September 2022 by the Indonesian House of Representatives and the Ministry of Communication and Informatics.

During the transition period, personal data controllers, personal data processors, and other related devices, both from the public and private sectors, are asked to study to prepare technical implementations in each institution.
