Jokowi Jamu PM Timor Leste Xanana Gusmao At The Bogor Palace

JAKARTA - Indonesian President Joko Widodo received an official visit from the Prime Minister of the Democratic Republic of Timor Leste Xanana Gusmao at the Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java, Friday, January 26.

PM Xana arrived at the Bogor Palace at around 09.00 WIB. His presence was greeted by troops wearing traditional Indonesian clothes, equestrian troops and the music corps of the Presidential Security Forces (Paspampres).

Reported by ANTARA, PM Xanana was greeted directly by President Joko Widodo who was wearing a brown suit at the Bogor Presidential Palace yard.

The welcoming procession was then continued with a state ceremony with the singing of the national anthem of the two countries accompanied by a cannon boom.

After the cannon boom was completed, the two leaders then carried out inspections of the honorary forces.

When passing through the ranks of school children dressed in traditional clothes, PM Xana was seen giving greetings by crossing their hands in front of their chests, while bowing their bodies to the ranks of school children.

The two leaders then introduced delegates from each country who were also present at the ceremony.

The Indonesian delegates who attended were Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi, Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Minister of Trade Zulkifli Hasan, Minister of SOEs Erick Thohir, Minister of Communication and Information Budi Arie Setiadi, Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono and Director General of Protocol and Consular Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Andy Rachmianto.

After introducing each other's delegates, President Jokowi then invited PM Xanana to take a photo together and sign a state guest book in the Lotus Room, Bogor Palace.

The two leaders then headed to the veranda area for a moment to chat before planting together.

The series of events were then continued by planting together trees by President Jokowi and PM Xanana.

The Head of State and PM Xana returned to the Bogor Palace to hold a bilateral meeting with delegates from each country.

After the bilateral meeting, the two leaders then made a joint press statement about the results of the agreement reached.

PM Xana Gusmao's visit to Indonesia previously attended the 43rd ASEAN Summit in September 2023.
