Convict In Sodomy Case Escapes From Pontianak Prison, West Kalimantan Ministry Of Law And Human Rights Forms Search Team

The Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham) West Kalimantan (Kalbar) formed a joint search team with the police to arrest inmates in the sodomy case of minors who escaped from Pontianak Prison.

"We have formed a search team with the Police to recapture Agun Saufi who escaped from Pontianak Prison on Wednesday (January 24) yesterday," said Head of the Correctional Division of the West Kalimantan Ministry of Law and Human Rights Hernowo in Pontianak, West Kalimantan, Thursday, January 25, as reported by Antara.

Agun Saufi (51) is a Pontianak prison inmate who was sentenced to eight years in prison in a case of sodomy minors.

He fled through the roof of the Pontianak prison bathroom on Wednesday, January 25, at around 09.00 to 12.30 WIB.

Herwano said Agun was last seen in the Pontianak Prison surveillance camera at 09.00 WIB. After checking the troop transfer rally from morning to noon, officers found that Agun was not in his room, which is located in Block C3.

"This happened after Agun visited her friend who was sick with a stroke in Block A. We suspect that Agun often cleaned his hands on the block, and from there he learned of public bathroom access which was then used to escape," he said.

He added that the team that had been formed would conduct a search based on instructions that had been obtained from his family and friends in prison.

"We make sure we will try to find Agun until they are caught again. If they are caught later, we will give appropriate sanctions, including the rights that will not be given to him," he said.
