Jember DPRD Special Committee Finds COVID-19 Aid Of IDR 1.2 Billion Not Distributed

The Special Committee for COVID-19 DPRD Jember, East Java found COVID-19 assistance worth IDR 1.2 billion in the form of folding tents totaling 1,223 units not being distributed (ANTARA)

JEMBER - The Special Committee (Pansus) for COVID-19 DPRD Jember, East Java found that Rp1.2 billion worth of COVID-19 aid in the form of folding tents totaling 1,223 units was not distributed to traders affected by the pandemic.

These findings are based on the results of the Jember DPRD COVID-19 Special Committee sudden inspection to the COVID-19 aid storage warehouse on Jalan Trunojoyo, Kaliwates District, Jember Regency.

"I am afraid that the tents purchased with a budget of up to Rp 1.2 billion will be damaged, because they are simply stacked without any pallets," said Agusta Jaka Purwana, member of the Special Committee for the Jember DPRD.

Agusta said that the folding tents that should have been distributed to traders affected by the pandemic should not be stacked just like that, because the supporting pipes could be bent due to the heavy load.

Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the COVID-19 Special Committee David Handoko Seto deeply regretted the distribution of folding tents for Rp. 800 thousand per unit, even though the tents purchased with public money should have been distributed and enjoyed by traders affected by the pandemic.

"Until today, the data on the recipients of the tent aid is not clear in terms of names and addresses, even when it is distributed it is unclear," he said.

David asked the COVID-19 Task Force to make a study regarding the assistance of the tents, moreover, the number of tents was very large and his party was also asked to take responsibility for the stalled aid.

Meanwhile, Secretary of the Jember COVID-10 Task Force Mad Satuki said the tents were actually going to be distributed to traders affected by the pandemic.

"However, we are worried that the traffic will be disrupted if the traders set up the tents. It is true that the aid has not been distributed due to inadequate planning," he said.

The Jember COVID-19 Task Force purchased 1,600 units of tents for market traders, but only 377 tents were distributed to traders at Tanjung Jember Market.

"We will first consult with the Daily Executive (Plh) Regent of Jember Hadi Sulistyo to distribute the tents to traders affected by the pandemic," he said.
