JAKARTA - The Papuan Police deployed 8,617 personnel in the 2024 General Recovery Security (Pemilu) scheme. They will be placed in all polling stations (TPS).
"Of course, I have prepared this strengthening backup in turn to the Papua Police, which amounted to 2,000, we will shift it to the Ranks Police to strengthen it to 4,000 personnel," said Papua Police Chief Inspector General Mathius D. Fakhiri in his statement, Tuesday, January 23.
The thousands of personnel consisted of various units, one of whom was Brimob Nusantara.
Then, in the security scheme, there are also around 700 TNI personnel who are reserve troops. They will be deployed if there is a request or lack of security personnel
"I've also received an additional back-up for the strengthening yesterday around 600 after our new non-commissioned officer specifically for the non-prone Polres I also sent them two weeks ago to change to what to look after at the Polres-Polres,” he said.
"As for Brimob Nusantara, there are 5 companies to assist the Papua Regional Police and in the next 2 weeks it has begun to shift to the Polres Jajaran which is in the jurisdiction of the Papua Police," continued Fakhiri.
On the other hand, Fakhiri also mentioned the logistics for the 2024 General Election that had arrived at four Provisions, namely Papua, Papua Mountains, Central Papua and South Papua Provinces.
Thus, Papua Deputy Chief of Police Brigadier General Petrus Patrige Rudolf Renwarin and Irwasda Polda Papua Kombes Yosi Muhamartha were ordered to check the process of distributing election logistics to regencies or cities in Papua.
"I ask because in the last 2 weeks, to see and check the logistics of the Election whether everything has been distributed to the regions," said the Papuan Police Chief.
Furthermore, the Kapolda told the KPU Chairs specifically for vulnerable areas to discuss together to find points where it is possible for the public to be able to give their voting rights.
"We should not force areas that are already prone to being placed in vulnerable areas because it will pose a risk to the safety of officers, both security forces and KPPS officers," Fakhiri said.
