Medan Mayor Bobby Nasution assessed that the appearance of vice presidential candidate number 2 Gibran Rakabuming Raka, who is also his brother-in-law, during the vice presidential debate was normal.

After reviewing the Public Service Mall (MPP) of Medan City, North Sumatra, Monday, Bobby said this was to respond to an opinion that Gibranyangan was considered unethical during the fourth debate of the 2024 presidential election on Sunday (21/1) night.

"Our circle (Gibran) asked, said it didn't (have) ethics, it didn't. It was our turn to be attacked, we were silent," Bobby said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, January 22.

According to him, in the debate over presidential and vice presidential candidates, anything can happen.

Bobby said the purpose of the debate was to want to give the public the opportunity to assess the pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates based on supervision and mission, as well as how to overcome the nation's problems before voting on February 14, 2024.

"It was said, yes, it's called a debate. If you want to take it easy, it's called friendship," said Bobby.

Meanwhile, gestur and microexpression expert at the Faculty of Psychology, University of Indonesia Monica Kumalasari, said that Gibran Rakabuming Raka often displays gestures and expressions of "attacking" during the fourth debate.

"From (candidate number) 2 this time it is different from the previous appearance, which has received positive sentiment from the public. This time it actually shows unnecessary attacking expressions," said Monica.

Monica said Gibran had several times flicked the vice presidential candidate number 1 Muhaimin Iskandar.

Sentilan Gibranialah quipped Muhaimin to read the notes during the debate. In fact, President Joko Widodo's eldest son demonstrated the pantomime movement when he considered that he could not find answers from the vice presidential candidate number 3 Mahfud MD.

According to Monica, Gibran's attitude justru caused negative impressions and sentiments, even eliminating the polite image that had been attached to the Surakarta mayor.
