5 Commissioners Of The Archipelago KPU Aru Corruption Suspects Will Soon Be Tried In Court

The Public Prosecutor's Team of the Aru Islands Kejari has handed over files and suspects for alleged corruption of the 2020 Regent and Deputy Regent of the Arus Islands grant funds involving five local KPU commissioners/ANTARA/HO-Kejati Maluku.

The Aru Islands District Attorney's Office investigative team handed over the case files for alleged corruption in the misuse of grant funds for the 2020 Regent and Deputy Regent of the Aru Islands which involved five KPU commissioners to the Ambon Corruption Court, Maluku.

"The delegation of this case was carried out by a team of public prosecutors led by the Head of Special Investigation Unit of the Aru Islands Kejari Fauzan Arif Nasution and received by PTSP Ambon District Court," said Acting Head of Penkum and Public Relations of the Maluku Prosecutor's Office, Aizit P. Latuconsina in Ambon as reported by ANTARA, Monday, January 22.

In addition to handing over the case files and evidence to the court, he said, the public prosecutor (JPU) also submitted an indictment against five suspects in the case.

The suspects are MD alias Mustafa, Chairman of the Aru Islands KPU, MAK alias Muhammad Adjir, YSL alias Yoseph, KR alias Renan and TJP alias Tina.

The five suspects are currently still undergoing detention at the Ambon Detention Center after previously being detained by the public prosecutor on January 17, 2024.

After the delegation of cases, the Public Prosecutor's Office Aru then waited for the determination of the trial schedule and the determination of the panel of judges from the Ambon Corruption Court to begin the trial of the case.

Meanwhile, Ambon District Court spokesman Rahmat Selang separately said that his party had received the delegation of case files for alleged corruption in the Aru Islands KPU grant funds along with the five suspects.

"The Corruption Court panel of judges will soon be formed to handle the case in question and it is scheduled that next week an inaugural trial will be held with the agenda of hearing the reading of the indictment by the prosecutor team," said Rahmat.
