JAKARTA - The South Sulawesi Provincial Government is targeting the completion and operation of the Makassar City Heart, Brain and Cancer Special Hospital in July 2024. The Acting Governor of South Sulawesi, Bahtiar Bahharuddin, gave his appreciation for the attention of the central government, especially the Ministry of Health, in the reflection of consolidation of the 2024 Vertical Hospital work program in Makassar.

Bahtiar highlighted the construction of the Vertical UPT Hospital in Makassar as a serious step by the Ministry of Health in the development and education of health in this region, as well as to overcome inequality in health infrastructure. This hospital is intended to compete in the Asian Region.

Heart, Brain, and Cancer Hospitals are expected to reduce the queue of heart, cancer, and stroke services in the Java region, while expanding service reach to the Nusantara scale. The operational target is July 2024, with the hope of providing the best service for the community.

Bahtiar emphasized that improving the health sector in South Sulawesi, as the door to Eastern Indonesia, means improving Indonesia as a whole. The Provincial Governments of South Sulawesi and districts/cities expressed readiness to support the policies of the Minister of Health.

"It is our job, the Provincial Government of South Sulawesi and districts/cities are ready to fully support the policies of the Minister of Health in the health sector," he said, as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, January 20.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Health, Budi Gunadi Sadikin, hopes that this hospital will become the best quality health service center for Eastern Indonesia. He also appreciated the design and location of vertical hospitals in Makassar.

"This is a vertical hospital (Makassar), suitable for it, location selection and scenery as well," he said.

At the event, he was given an award to Indonesia's best hospital, with Wahidin Hospital winning the Best 1 Award for Online Registration, 2nd Best Education Hospital, and Makassar Eye Hospital receiving the 2nd Best Service Waiting Time Award. Present at the event were also several government officials and representatives of the health sector.
