JAKARTA - Former PDIP politician Maruarar Sirait dismissed his political stance in favor of Presidential Candidate number 2, Prabowo Subianto in the 2024 presidential election was directed by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi). Ara said his political move was his choice of heart. "I'm just a small person, an ordinary person, just following my heart, I follow my heart. Pak Jokowi never directed anything, never ordered anything, yes, but of course we are politics with faith," said Ara after accompanying Prabowo to attend the PGI event in Salemba, Jakarta, Friday, January 19. Ara then revealed the advice of one of the founders of PDIP who is also his father, Sabam Sirait, that politics must be sincere in helping the weak and defending the right. "I was taught that Pak Sabam, the founder of the PDI, to do politics is sacred, defends the truth and helps the weak," he said. Although it was his decision to leave PDIP to follow Jokowi, Ara ensured that the head of state would never give the government to leave the bull party and turn to support Prabowo. "Pak Jokowi never said anything, never instructed anything but I believe Pak Jokowi's heart and mind are the same," he said. Ara also admitted that he had not thought about where he would dock after leaving PDIP. But what is clear, Ara said, after praying and consulting with his family, he was determined to support Prabowo-Gibran.

"While I haven't thought that way, yes, we will convey it later. But today with humility, I have prayed, talked to my closest family including my mother, wife, and child. I am open to conveying to the public, I am with Prabowo-Gibran," he concluded.
