BANJARBARU - Traffic Unit (Satlantas) Officer of the Banjarbaru City Resort Police (Polres) followed up on an investigation into a traffic accident on Jalan Jenderal Ahmad Yani Kilometer 29, Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan, involving a minor car driver.

Head of the Public Relations Section of the Banjarbaru Police, AKP Syahruji, said officers were still collecting evidence related to the deadly accident on Jalan Jenderal Ahmad Yani Kilometer 29, Guntung Payung Village, Landasan Ulin District.

"The Satlantas investigators who handle this case are still collecting evidence and statements from a number of witnesses in the field," said Syahruji accompanied by the Head of Law Enforcement of the Banjarbaru Police Traffic Unit, Ipda Junaedi, as reported by ANTARA, Friday, January 19.

According to Syahruji, investigators have conducted a urine test for an SUV driver with the initials AJ (16) with negative results from narcotics or dangerous drugs (drugs).

He stressed that the investigation into the accident that killed two passengers of the car was carried out carefully because it involved drivers who were underage so that the final result was in accordance with the facts by prioritizing the right to be minors.

"Officers have conducted urine tests on AJ and the results are negative for narcotics. Investigations are also carried out carefully because the driver status is still a minor so that problems do not arise in the future," he said.

Syahruji also confirmed that AJ was still at the Banjarbaru Police Headquarters and was still in the security of personnel in one of the Traffic Unit's rooms while waiting for investigators to confirm the clarity of the case.

"We cannot confirm when the investigation will be completed and how the case develops because it involved minors, so investigators must be careful in determining the results of the investigation," he said.

Syahruji said 12 victims of the accident who suffered minor injuries and another injured had returned home, while three seriously injured people were still undergoing treatment.

The fatal accident that killed two people occurred on Jalan Jenderal Ahmad YaniKilometer 29 Banjarbaru, precisely at the Mekatani Guntung Payung turning point, Thursday (19/1) at around 03.40 WITA.

The accident began when the Silver Isuzu bus Nopol KT 7702 EG, which was traveling by 18 people, was turning around U Turn from Banjarbaru to enter Jalan Bina Putra to the airport.

Meanwhile, from the direction of Banjarmasin, AJ's white Fortuner car, driving the DA 12 IA, hit Isuzu hard, causing two passengers to die.

Two victims were killed, namely the driver of an Isuzu car named Mirza P who suffered injuries all over his body and another passenger, Hamida suffered injuries to his head, and his left hand.

Meanwhile, 16 other passengers who suffered serious injuries and minor injuries were rushed to the Idaman Banjarbaru Regional Hospital and Syifa Medika RO Ulin Hospital Banjarbaru.
