BPBD Asks Residents Of Maros Sulsel To Beware Of Limpasan Lekopancing Dam During Heavy Rain

SOUTH SULAWESI - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) has asked residents of Maros Regency in South Sulawesi (Sulsel) to be aware of the overflowing of the dam during high intensity rain.

"The large enough water discharge after heavy rains upstream of the Lekopancing River triggered the condition of the Lekopancing Dam to be fully filled," said Head of BPBD Maros Fadli in Maros, South Sulawesi, Monday, January 15, as reported by Antara.

Nevertheless, he continued, this condition could change according to the development of conditions in the field because the water absorption to the ground was still quite good in the upstream part.

Based on a report from the Pompengan-Jeneberang River Basin Center, the condition of the Lekopancing Dam today, Limpasan Mercu 250 centimeters (cm), Q Mercu 925.358 cubic meters/second, H Intake 35 cm with rainy weather conditions.

This condition shows that the Lekopancing Dam is already above the normal threshold.

In this regard, the Maros Regency Government through BPBD appealed to residents who live locations to become flood customers every rainy season, to always be vigilant.

This vigilance, he said, is part of disaster mitigation by the community. They must prepare needs that can be used during an emergency.

In addition to the Lekopancing Dam whose water discharge increased when it rained in the afternoon, the dam which scaled below the dam's capacity, namely the Bassi Stone Dam in Maros Regency, the water had also risen and was almost parallel to the road.
