KPK Asked To Evaluate The Deputy For Enforcement After Harun Masiku Buron For Up To 4 Years

JAKARTA - Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) has asked the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to evaluate the deputy for prosecution. They are considered to have failed to arrest former PDIP legislative candidate Harun Masiku, who is still at large today.

This was conveyed by ICW researcher Kurnia Ramadhana after holding a theatrical action at the KPK's Red and White building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta. According to him, evaluation efforts need to be carried out, especially since Firli Bahuri has resigned and was replaced by Nawawi Pomolango as the Temporary Chair of the KPK.

"We hope that there will be a massive audit of the KPK prosecution process, especially in the deputy for prosecution of the KPK," Kurnia told reporters, Monday, January 15.

"So there is a tiered examination starting from the deputy for prosecution, the director of investigation, the director of investigation to the task force tasked with finding Harun Masiku's whereabouts," continued the anti-corruption activist.

ICW also encourages the KPK to be diligent in coordinating with the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Police and Interpol. "To trace where Harun Masiku really is," said Kurnia.

Finally, Kurnia urged the KPK Supervisory Board to properly carry out its duties to monitor enforcement work, especially looking for Harun Masiku. Because there are allegations that the anti-corruption commission fugitive was assisted by other parties.

"To answer that negative stigma, we encourage Harun Masiku to be immediately arrested and prosecuted," he said.

As previously reported, Harun is a suspect in giving bribes to former KPU commissioner Wahyu Setiawan. This gift was given so that he could sit as a member of the DPR through interim shifts (PAW).

He has been on the wanted list (DPO) since January 29, 2020. Most recently, the KPK informed that the National Central Bureau (NCB) of Interpol Indonesia had issued a red notice on behalf of Harun Masiku on Friday, July 30, 2023.
