DIY - Governor of the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) Sri Sultan HB X inaugurated the Bedol Village Inscription in the Sermo Reservoir tourist attraction area in Kulon Progo Regency to commemorate the sacrifices of Hargowilis residents and their surroundings.

Sultan said the inscription was a reminder for DIY residents, as well as for tourists visiting the Sermo Reservoir.

"This inscription is in memory of their sacrifice, so that the Sermo Reservoir is realized," said the Sultan after inaugurating the Bedol inscription of the Sermo Reservoir Village in Kulon Progo, Monday, January 15, was confiscated by Antara.

He said the construction of the inscription should have been carried out for a long time. Even so, he hopes that this inscription can fulfill the aspirations of residents who follow the Village Idol.

"This inscription is a memory that after all they are still DIY residents," he said.

As is known, the construction of the Sermo Reservoir sacrificed hundreds of residents who had to be moved through the Transmigration program. This incident is remembered as "Village Idol".

Currently, the Sermo Reservoir is used to meet household clean water, irrigate rice fields, and tourist attractions.

Kepala Dinas Pariwisata (Dispar) Kulon Progo Joko Mursito mengatakan, prasasti Bedol Desa tersebut jadi salah satu landmark atau tetenger yang dibangun. Setidaknya ada sejumlah landmark yang dibangun di seluruh Kulon Progo.

The inscription lists 102 names of residents who should be moved from there because their place of residence was built into the Sermo Reservoir. This incident occurred in 1990.

"You could say that the Bedol Inscription of this village is special for the Sermo Reservoir," said Joko.

He said the Bedol Village inscription was made to commemorate this historic event. At the same time respecting the sacrifices of hundreds of residents who must be moved.

Joko also assessed that the presence of the inscription could provide its own color for the Sermo Reservoir tour.

"We hope that the Bedol Village inscription can add beauty and tourist accents in the Sermo Reservoir," he said.
