TNI And Community Help Flood Victims In South Kalimantan Who Have Not Yet Receded

JAKARTA - TNI soldiers from Koramil 1002-05/Pandawan, together with members of the Sector Police and Plt. Pandawan sub-district M. Affaw Al Bagag, SIP, participated in efforts to overcome the impact of flooding in Masiraan village, Pandawan, Hulu Sungai Tengah Regency, South Kalimantan.

This solidarity action received full support from local village officials, who participated in the distribution of hundreds of food packages to communities affected by the flood disaster.

This statement was conveyed by the Head of the TNI Headquarters, Maj. Gen. Dr. Nugraha Gumilar, M.Sc., at TNI Cilangkap Headquarters, East Jakarta, in a written statement received by VOI Saturday, January 13. In this statement, the Head of the TNI explained that the floods that hit the area since a week ago had not yet subsided, and the water discharge remained high, and even tended to increase. This resulted in the sinking of village roads and residents' houses with varying water levels.

In an emergency response effort, TNI soldiers from Koramil 1002-05 / Pangandawan together with related elements carried out the distribution of hundreds of food packages. Kapuspen TNI emphasized that this step is in line with the concept of TNI PRIMA (Professional, Responsive, Innovative, Modern, and Adaptive). "They participated in easing the burden on the people in Pandawan through the distribution of basic necessities," said Major General TNI Dr. Nugraha Gumilar.

Plh Danramil 1002-05/Pandawan, Peltu Henri Murpianto, explained that the water level had increased between 5 and 40 centimeters. "The cause is piles of wood (rabing) garbage from Jaranih village which clogs the flow of the Masiraan village river," he explained. As a result, 36 families from 182 houses were still affected by the flood, so 5 fiber boats were still on standby along with Babinsa, Bhabinkamtibmas, and volunteers.

On the other hand, Masiraan Village Head, H. Ahmad Fauzi, added that the food aid distributed came from village bailout funds. "We hope that the flood will recede soon, and the community can return to normal activities," he said. Solidarity between the TNI and the community is the main pillar in overcoming the impact of flood disasters in South Kalimantan.
