If There Is A Violation, Gibran Is Ready To Be Sanctioned

JAKARTA - Candidate for vice president number 2 Gibran Rakabuming Raka admitted that he was ready to be sanctioned and summoned if he was proven to have committed a violation, as alleged by the General Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) of Maluku Province.

"Oh, please, if there are violations, there are allegations that are not true. We are ready to be sanctioned, summoned like when, please," Gibran quoted Antara as saying.

The Maluku Province Bawaslu said that Gibran Rakabuming Raka's visit in Ambon City, Monday (8/1), was suspected of violating the rules. The violation was seen in the involvement of village officials who were present during the visit of the Prabowo Subianto couple.

"The Vice President with serial number 2, immediately held a meeting with a number of heads of state governments (KPN) and village heads, both from Ambon City and Central Maluku Regency in SwissBell Hotel. Initially, we stated that this was a violation during the visit of the Gibran vice president in Maluku," said a member of the Maluku Province Bawaslu, Samsun Ninilouw, in Ambon, Thursday (11/1).

The Coordinator of the Maluku Bawaslu Law Division, Samsun Ninilouw further said that there were as many as 30 village heads in Central Maluku (Malteng) and Ambon City indicated to have violated the Election Law (UU).

Dozens of village heads are suspected of violating Article 280 of Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning Elections because they are said to have attended and even expressed support for Gibran.

"In principle, Law Number 7 of 2017 states that involving village heads and village officials is a violation," said Samsun.

He explained, based on the surveillance report (LHP) received from the leaders, his party found that around 30 village heads were indicated to have violated the Election Law from the estimated 100 people who were invited at that time.

"We then carried out a plenary session, and the resulting analysis stated that this is a form of violation even though it is not final," he said.

Previously, Gibran visited a political safari in Maluku on January 8, 2013. He carried out a number of activities, including meetings with kings, communities and activists of the creative economy, and distributing free milk in Liang Country, Malteng.
