JAKARTA - Minister of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform Abdullah Azwar Anas revealed that the recruitment of state civil servants in 2024 can take place more than once a year.
According to Anas, this was done as a form of flexibility in the arrangement of ASN as mandated in Law Number 20 of 2023 concerning State Civil Apparatus.
"So, indeed the new ASN Law provides open space and makes it easier for the government from the center to the regions to regulate recruitment. It is not fixated on a certain pattern, so that the organization can run dynamically," said Anas in Jakarta, as reported by ANTARA, Friday, January 12.
Anas gave an example of dynamic private institutions and SOEs, recruitment does not have to wait for the annual cycle, but adjusts to the needs of the organization.

For the first stage, the implementation of the 2024 ASN recruitment consisting of the selection of prospective civil servants (CPNS) and Government Employees with a Work Agreement (PPPK) will be held in May 2024.
"For the first stage, it is hoped that all ministries, institutions, and local governments can enter data into digital platforms prepared by BKN," said Anas.
Currently, the Ministry of PANRB and the State Civil Service Agency (BKN) are moving quickly to discuss the implementation of ASN procurement in 2024.
"This week the PANRB Ministry and BKN Team has held intense meetings, especially with all ministries, institutions, and local governments, including with personnel managers," he said.
The PANRB Ministry also encourages government agencies at the central and regional levels to make good use of the formation allocation so that bureaucratic reform can actually materialize. The consolidation of proposals for government agencies is targeted for completion in January 2024.
"The initial selection is targeted for May and if the formation has not been fulfilled, the next selection can be opened until the end of 2024," he said.
The 2024 ASN recruitment has been officially announced by President Joko Widodo on Friday, January 5, 2024, with a total formation of 2.3 million.
Central agencies received a formation of 429,183 needs consisting of 207,247 CPNS and 221,936 for PPPK. The formation is a combination for teachers, lecturers, health workers, and technical personnel.
Meanwhile, the formation of regional agencies amounted to 1,867,333 consisting of 483,575 CPNS and 1,383,758 PPPK. The PPPK formation in regional agencies was allocated to teachers as many as 419,146, health workers as many as 417,196, and 547,416 formations for technical personnel.
