BENGKULU - Bengkulu City General Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) conducted a legal study regarding alleged campaign violations committed by Bengkulu Mayor Arif Gunadi.

"We have seen or received many reports, meaning that we Bawaslu Bengkulu City will review whether these conditions are met from this report formally and materially," said Bengkulu City Bawaslu Chairman Rahmat Hidayat as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, January 12.

The Acting Mayor of Bengkulu is suspected of distributing photos or pictures of candidates for the Bengkulu Province Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) who are his own wives to a chat group consisting of 852 contacts and accompanied by an image of a candidate's ballot from one of the parties.

His party will also coordinate with the Bengkulu Province Bawaslu regarding the report so that there will be no overlap and follow-up in the future.

The Bengkulu City Bawaslu is currently continuing to review the allegations reported so that they can be followed up whether the elements of violations or not are fulfilled.

Previously, the Bengkulu Province Rafflesia Guard reported the Acting Mayor of Bengkulu Arif Gunadi to the Bengkulu Province Bawaslu regarding the alleged neutrality of the State Civil Apparatus (ASN).

Meanwhile, the Bengkulu City Bawaslu emphasized that ASN, members of the TNI and Polri in the area should not participate in practical politics.

Because, his party noted, more than five participants in the 2024 General Election (Pemilu) were wives or families of ASN employees, members of the TNI and Polri running for legislative members in Bengkulu.

"There are several things that we see both in Bengkulu City or Bengkulu Province. There are more than five people," said Bengkulu City Bawaslu Coordinator of the Division for Handling, Utilization and Violation of Disputes (Kordiv PPPS) Ahmad Maskuri.
