Prospective DPRD Nunukan Becomes A Suspect In Money Politics

NUNUKAN The Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) of Nunukan Regency, North Kalimantan (Kaltara), is processing the alleged criminal action of the political election of the Nunukan DPRD candidate with the initials SR (22).

The head of the Nunukan Bawaslu, Mochammad Yusran, said that SR and evidence had been submitted to the Nunukan Police for investigation.

"This case has been registered by the Election Supervisory on December 18, 2023 Number 001/Reg/TM/PL/Reg/24.05/XII/2023 concerning Allegations of Violations of the Crime of the Political Election of Money Article 280 Paragraph 1 letter j, junto Article 521 Law 7 of 2017 concerning Elections," said Yusran, Thursday, January 11.

This case was previously handled by an integrated law enforcement center (Gakumdu). 10 people were questioned, including criminal experts.

"Two pieces of evidence must be fulfilled in the article on money politics," said Yusran.

SR while campaigning through Instagram social media accounts on 9-10 December 2023, is suspected of promising and distributing door prizes or other materials to participants.

This violates Article 26 paragraph 1 and Article 55 of KPU Regulation number 15 of 2023 concerning Election Campaign.

"This case is expected to be an education for the public, as well as a warning to political contestants not to do money politics in any form," he explained.

Meanwhile, the Nunukan Police Chief, AKBP Taufik Nurmandia through the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Nunukan Police, AKP Lusgi Simanungkali, said that his party was still asking for additional information from a number of witnesses.

"The evidence that has been secured is in the form of an air fan, a dispenser, then a screenshot containing a video when the suspect handed over a Door Prize. The price of these items is above the value set in the PKPU," he said.

The investigation process of this case has been carried out by the Nunukan Bawaslu. After that, the file from the investigation was reported by Panwascam to the Nunukan Police Satreskrim.

"Even though he has been named a suspect, SR is not detained. This is because the criminal threat is not above 2 years in prison," he concluded/
