PANGKALPINANG - Polresta Pangkalpinang, Belitung, destroyed 3,949.83 grams of crystal methamphetamine with a value of IDR 4 billion, as a police commitment to eradicate the circulation of illicit goods in the city of BeRIBu Senyuman.

"With the destruction of 3,949.83 grams of crystal methamphetamine today, we have managed to save 20,000 lives in this city," said Pangkalpinang Police Chief Kombes Gatot Yulianto as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, January 10.

Gatot said the destruction of evidence worth Rp4 billion came from the arrest of suspect Edi Jahri alias Epi, with a gross weight of 4,058.63 grams, on Sunday (10/12/2023) at around 23.30 WIB at his rented house in Air Itam Village, Bukit Intan District, Pangkalpinang City.

"The evidence of methamphetamine obtained by the suspect has helped 20,000 people free from drug abuse," he said.

The police chief emphasized that the eradication of drug abuse will continue to be carried out massively in 2024 with stakeholders in the hope that drug abuse in Pangkalpinang City can be overcome together.

"I ordered the Head of Drugs and members to continue to work hard and cooperate with relevant agencies to carry out investigations in eradicating drug trafficking in the jurisdiction of the Pangkalpinang Police," he said.
