Police Confirm That Dede Jaya's Motive For Killing Kramat Jati Market Fruit Traders Because His Wife Is Hurt By Being Cheated On By The Victim

East Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Kombes Leo Simarmata confirmed that the motive for the suspect Dede Jaya (28) to kill Sutomo, a watermelon trader at Kramatjati Main Market, was purely hurt and burned by jealousy.

"The suspect's mode of hurt. The victim had an affair with the suspect's wife. The suspect was hurt, because there was a romantic relationship between the victim and the suspect's wife," Kombes Leo Simarmata told reporters, Tuesday, January 9.

The affair was carried out by the victim with the suspect's wife since early October 2023. However, the suspect's anger began to peak in early January 2024 to the victim.

"The perpetrator and the victim know each other. In early October 2023, the victim had an affair with the perpetrator's wife. Later there will be further investigation during the examination of the perpetrator," he said.

The base of heartache, then a grudge appeared in the hearts of the suspect Dede Jaya to intend to kill the victim's life. The perpetrator also prepared a chemical liquid type of hard water and a sharp weapon of the type of sickle to kill Sutomo.

Meanwhile, a stainless sickle became a silent witness to Sutomo's death, a watermelon fruit trader at Kramatjati Market.

The rusty sickle was confiscated by the Kramatjati Police after Dede Jaya (28) was arrested after the murder of the Sutomo victim.

"Cob-handled sickles and brown sarongs were confiscated, 1 plastic bottle and hoodie jacket," he said.

For his actions, the suspect Dede Jaya was charged with multiple articles, namely Article 338 of the Criminal Code related to murder with a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison and Article 351 of the Criminal Code related to persecution with a maximum threat of 7 years in prison.
