Airlangga Calls Jokowi Indonesia's Leaders Viewed On The Global Stage

Chairman of the Golkar Party DPP Airlangga Hartarto answered reporters' questions at Istora Senayan, Jakarta, Sunday, January 7.

JAKARTA - General Chairperson of the Golkar Party DPP Airlangga Hartarto emphasized that Indonesia is not only a spectator in international forums and global arenas.

This rebuttal was conveyed by Airlangga in response to the satire of presidential candidate number 1 Anies Baswedan during the Presidential Candidate Debate on Sunday, January 7 evening.

The Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs said that under the leadership of President Joko Widodo, Indonesia was one of the important countries during the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

Airlangga emphasized that President Jokowi even went directly to promote peace between Russia and Ukraine.

"The leadership of the G20 is Indonesia, not just sitting and being silent and present. We lead, Mr. President comes to Ukraine, Mr. President comes to the Soviet Union, to Russia, and we are respected. The form of the award is that the G20 Summit (in Indonesia) is very successful," said Airlangga in his statement, Sunday, January 7th.

Airlangga added that Indonesia's success at the G20 Summit has produced many results for the country. In fact, seeing the importance of Indonesia in the eyes of the world, President Jokowi was invited directly to a bilateral meeting with the United States.

According to Airlangga, Indonesia has shown its leadership in the global political arena and APEC meetings in the United States.

"Mr. President was invited directly to Washington at a bilateral meeting," said Airlangga.

Ketum Golkar emphasized that the G20 decision was also widely adopted at APEC meetings in Bangkok, Thailand after the G20 Summit in Indonesia. According to Airlangga, this is enough to prove that Indonesia is not only a spectator country in the global political arena.

"Indonesia's leadership is extraordinary. Indonesia is a country in the south that is considered a leader of the global north," said the Coordinating Minister for the Economy.

Previously, during the Presidential Decree at Istora Senayan, Anies quipped that Indonesia was currently only a spectator in the global constellation. Anies promised that if he was elected president, he would return to Indonesia as the main actor in determining the direction of peace in the global arena.

"The president is the Pangliam of Indonesian diplomacy. Not only present in the forums, but he is present to color, he is serious about fighting for manifold, including the most important mandate to eliminate colonialism on earth," said Anies.
