Bawaslu Asks KASN And PPU Regency Government To Follow Up ASN-Village Officials To Spread Flyers And Participate In Campaigns

JAKARTA - The General Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) of North Penajam Paser Regency (PPU) is processing alleged violations of the 2024 General Election neutrality, one of which is carried out by the local state civil apparatus (ASN).

"We have received two reports of election violations by ASN and village officials," said North Penajam Paser Regency Head Mohammad Khazin in Penajam, East Kalimantan (Kaltim), Monday, January 8, as reported by Antara.

The ASN was reported to have violated the election because it participated in distributing leaflets or flyers of one of the 2024 General Election participants, while a village official reportedly attended the campaign for legislative candidates (caleg) participating in the 2024 General Election.

According to Khazin, two reports of alleged election violations that have been received by Bawaslu are being processed, then the results of the verdict will be forwarded to the relevant institutions authorized as a recommendation to impose sanctions.

The Bawaslu of North Penajam Paser Regency is not authorized to impose sanctions on the ASN and village officials.

"We are still processing the ASN and reported village officials, we ensure that within seven days the category of violations will be known," he said.

Allegations of neutrality violations committed by ASN are recommended to the State Civil Apparatus Commission (KASN), while cases involving village officials are recommended to the North Penajam Paser Regency Government (Pamkab) to determine the sanctions to be given.

"It is very important that all parties can participate in supervising ASN and other government officials, including on social media if indicated not to be neutral regarding elections," he said.

He added that the neutrality of ASN and other government officials must be widely socialized so that the public knows. That way, the public can participate in supervising and reporting indications of inequality between ASN and other government officials.

The Bawaslu of North Penajam Paser Regency synergizes with the local district government to increase supervision of ASN neutrality and government officials in the 2024 General Election.

"We are intensively coordinating and synergizing with district governments to monitor the neutrality of ASN and other governments," said Mohammad Khazin.
