Presidential Candidate (Capres) Number 1 Anies Baswedan highlighted the welfare and increase in salaries of TNI-Polri members. If it is related to the era of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), he said, the increase in salaries in the Jokowi era only occurred three times.

In fact, continued Anies, TNI-Polri soldiers have worked normally in the field. So you have to give respect and gratitude by giving a salary increase.

"Because they are doing difficult things, things are tough. But what do I think is the worse side of the policy? In the era of Pak SBY, the increase in salary occurred nine times. During this era (of government) it only increased his salary three times and will increase later next year because ahead of the election his salary might increase," he said in the 2024 Presidential Candidate Debate, quoted from the Indonesian KPU YouTube, Sunday, January 7.

According to Anies, the improvement in the welfare of TNI-Polri soldiers has not been taken seriously so far, unlike civil servants in a number of ministries whose performance allowances (tukin) are sought to increase.

"But on the other hand, the welfare is not taken seriously, Tukin is only 80 percent. Look at the Ministry of Finance, see the Ministry of PUPR ministers are trying to increase their hatchlings," he said.

In addition, Anies also highlighted the use of the used weapon system (alutsista) used by the TNI. He said the risk of using used defense equipment was the safety of soldiers.

"We will see the used defense equipment, which is the risk of our TNI safety. They work hard to protect every inch of this Republic land, but they are not supported by policies," he said.
