Menkumham Denies Alvin Lim About Ferdy Sambo Not Sleeping In Salemba Prison Cell: He Talks About It

JAKARTA - Minister of Law and Human Rights (Menkumham) Yasonna Laoly denied the statement by lawyer Alvin Lim who said Ferdy Sambo was not in the Salemba Correctional Institution (Lapas).

"It's crazy. The person (Alvin Lim) wasn't there. He (Alvin) was in the hospital. The sambo was only five days in Salemba, then sent to Cibinong. Just like that," said Yasonna at the Jakarta Presidential Palace, reported by ANTARA, Friday, January 5.

Yasonna confirmed that Alvin Lim's statement was not true and was a hoax.

According to Yasonna, Alvin Lim, who was detained in Salembas Prison, was sick and treated from August 16-29, 2023; while Ferdy Sambo was in SALemba Prison on August 24-29, 2023.

"When did he meet him? (Ferdy Sambo) We immediately transferred him to Cibinong, he was in Cibinong Prison," said Yasonna.

Previously, Alvim Lim said that FerdySambo was not detained in Salemba Prison, Jakarta, but in the Correctional Institution Security Unit (KPLP) which was equipped with a room cooler or air conditioning device.

Previously, the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD previously also explained that the issue that Alvin Lim raised was not new.

"In that case, in Sukamiskin (prison) many people go home every day. Those are the questions we have to solve, if any," said Mahfud.

However, Mahfud said the authorities had the authority to check the issue were the inspector general who oversees the prison.
