KAI And KNKT Investigate Collision Of 'Bull Fight; Turangga Train With Bandung Local Train

JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) together with the National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT) will immediately investigate the cause of the train accident (KA) in Cicalengka, Bandung Regency, West Java.

"KAI will also conduct an investigation with the NTSC to find out the cause of the accident," said KAI Vice President Public Relations Joni Martinus in a statement reported by ANTARA, Friday, January 5.

Another effort is to evacuate two series of trains and repair damaged rail lines.

"For KA-KA trips that will pass in the Haurpugur-Cicalengka area, KAI will make efforts to engineer operating patterns in the form of rotating roads and diversion using other transportation," said Joni.

Meanwhile, KAI EVP of Corporate Secretary Raden Agus Dwinanto Budiadji said the railroad line between Haurpugur-Cicalengka was temporarily impassable due to the accident.

"KAI is currently trying to evacuate passengers in the two trains that experienced the accident," he said.

KAI apologized for the disruption of services due to the accident between the Turangga train, the Surabaya Gubeng-Bandung and the Greater Bandung Commuterline, at Km 181+700 plots of roads between Haurpugur Station-Cicalengka Station on Friday at 06.03 WIB.

Previously, the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) also sent a team to follow up and evacuate victims of the train accident.

"In order to follow up and evacuate victims from this incident, DJKA has sent a technical team to secure the scene," said Director General of Railways of the Ministry of Transportation, Risal Was.
