Head of the DKI Jakarta Highways Agency, Heru Suwondo, explained the cause of the sinking of the road on Jalan Gajah Mada, Tamansari, West Jakarta, before the traffic light Olimo. The collapse in part of this road caused traffic to stall due to narrowing of the route.

Heru explained that the collapse of the road at Olimo was caused by the work of relocating the 150 kV high-voltage cable network (SKKT) by PLN.

"This relocation work was carried out by PT PLN West Java Transmission Main Unit. The work has started since December 2023 at 2 locations where the SKTT pit was made," Heru said in a written statement, Thursday, January 4.

Heru said that PLN had to transfer the SKKT network because the utility network was previously affected by the construction of the MRT Jakarta Phase 2A CP202 Harmoni - Mangga Besar, precisely at the construction of the Mangga Besar MRT Station.

"Regarding this activity, it has been reminded that the relocation excavation work has an impact on damage to the surrounding roads and mitigation of handling it," said Heru.

As a result of this incident, PLN and PT MRT Jakarta followed up on road repairs ranging from the reheating of the fallen fence, the building of potholes, repairing shoe and sheet pile at the pit excavation location, to rescattering on subsided roads and using steel plates so that traffic can be passed.

"Furthermore, the handling of the collapsed road will be completed as soon as possible today," said Heru.

The DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency also diverted traffic at the location of the collapsed road. PT Transjakarta also diverted three bus routes that usually cross the road, namely the Blok M Kodidor 1 route, Kalideres West Kalibes (3H) and Pantai Maju City Hall (1A).
