Anies Baswedan Alludes To People Elected For Money Politics With The Potential To Misuse Power

PADANG - Presidential Candidate Anies Baswedan believes that the public is getting smarter in responding to the practice of money politics or the polymer politics that has the potential to occur in the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres).

"We believe that the Indonesian people have experience in undergoing general elections. So the people already know exactly, the person who brings a lot of money and distributes it," said Anies Baswedan in Tanah Datar Regency, West Sumatra, as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, January 3.

This was conveyed by Anies Baswedan during an activity entitled "Desak Anies" at Cindu Mato Field, Tanah Datar Regency.

According to the former Governor of DKI Jakarta, prospective leaders who use their money politics strategy to achieve their goals will have great potential to abuse the authority mandated by the community.

Currently, he continued, the choice is in the hands of the people whether to choose a candidate who uses money politics or a candidate for leader who is oriented towards the interests of the people without the practice of money politics.

The former Chancellor of Paramadina University emphasized that the pair Anies Baswedan and Muhaimin Iskandar prioritized more public dialogue in winning the hearts of constituents.

Regarding the neutrality of state apparatus in the implementation of the five-year democratic party, Anies is of the view that this is currently a separate test for every leader in each agency to enforce the rules.

"This is also a test for leaders. If the leader imposes sanctions, it means it is not allowed," he said.

Anies emphasized that the commitment to neutrality of every state apparatus must continue to be put forward to make election administration a success with integrity.
