Muhaimin: Social Assistance Must Continue During Elections With Supervision

JAKARTA - Vice Presidential Candidate Muhaimin Iskandar (Gus Imin) said the provision of social assistance (bansos) to the community was still ongoing even though the 2024 election stage was ongoing.

Nevertheless, said Gus Imin, its implementation requires supervision. This statement was in response to the Ganjar-Mahfud National Winning Team (TPN) which asked for the postponement of the provision of social assistance during the election.

"There is news that I have to make preparations that I do not agree that the suspension of social assistance will be postponed, but it must still be implemented," said Gus Imin during a campaign in Bandung Regency, West Java, as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, January 3.

It was also emphasized that social assistance must be immediately given to the public in accordance with the plans that have been scheduled by the government and the House of Representatives (DPR). However, in its implementation there must be supervision by social and social institutions owned by the state.

"The DPR must supervise, all social institutions supervise, the people must be smart that there is assistance from the state, both cash and basic necessities, that is your own money," he said.

According to him, what must be rejected is the provision of social assistance which is used by certain candidate pairs or used for the political interests of a group.

The proposal to postpone the provision of social assistance during the 2024 election came from the Deputy for Law of TPN Ganjar-Mahfud, Todung Mulya Lubis.

On Friday (29/12), Todung said that the distribution of social assistance by the government is feared to benefit certain candidate pairs.
