KPK Will Call Again Former Deputy Minister Of Law And Human Rights Eddy Hiariej As A Suspect

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has confirmed that it will recall the former Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights (Wamenkumham) Edward Omar Sharif Hiariej or Eddy Hiariej. The summons was made because he was not present when he was about to be questioned as a suspect in receiving bribes in December 2023. "“Investigators will schedule (calls, ed)," said Head of the News Section Ali Fikri to reporters in a written statement, Wednesday, January 3. However, Ali has not specified when the summons will take place. He only said that the handling of the bribery case that ensnared Eddy would continue. Ali also ensured that there was no attempt to specialize Eddy. This is because in the new case of the bribe, namely the Director of PT Citra Lampia Mandiri (CLM), Helmut Hermawan, who had just been detained. "We will inform you of the progress later," he said. “ We solve the case for all the suspects, both the giver and the recipient. So no (there is, red) different treatment. That's just a matter of case settlement strategy, "” continued Ali. Previously reported, the KPK officially announced Eddy Hiariej as a suspect. He is suspected of receiving up to IDR 8 billion which was divided several times for a number of purposes involving the boss of PT CLM, Helmut Hermawan. Eddy's first acceptance was made after he agreed to consult the general legal administration of the PT CLM ownership dispute. At that time Helmut gave Rp4 billion. Then, he also received Rp3 billion to stop the legal process involving Helmut at the National Police Criminal Investigation Unit through the issuance of a letter of termination of investigation (SP3). Finally, Eddy is suspected of using his power as Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights to unblock PT CLM in the Ministry of Law and Human Rights' Legal Entity Administration System (SABH). He then received Rp1 billion which was used to run for Chairman of the Central Management of the Indonesian Tennis Association (PP Pelti).

The KPK suspects that Eddy made this acceptance through two people as representatives of himself. They are lawyers named Yosi Andika Mulyadi and Yogi Arie Rukmana who are his personal assistants who are also suspects in this case.
