On New Year's Eve 2024, This Temulawak Trader Is Happy That His Trade Was Purchased By President Jokowi

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo greeted the public and bought snacks until they met in Surakarta's hometown, Central Java, ahead of the New Year 2024, Sunday, December 31 evening.

Berdasarkan siaran pers, dikutip dari Antara, Senin 1 Januari, Presiden menghampir stok/gerai penjual temulawak di stok/gerai UMKM Pasar Malam (Night Market) Ngarsopuro, Surakarta, dan langsung tertarik membelinya.

"Iya diborong (Presiden) temlawannya. Senang, baru kali ini bisa berbincang tatap-tatapan dengan Pak Jokowi," ujar pedagang temulawak bernama Uni.

The president, who on that occasion wore a dark jacket, also reportedly approached light hawker outlets, such as rolled eggs, sausages, and corndogs.

Sasongko, the corndog seller, said he was happy because his merchandise was bought by the President.

Earlier (the president) bought corndogs, the same as Singapore brains. This (corndog) is five, the same (brains) five. Very happy, Alhamdulillah. Thank you Pak Jokowi," said Sasongko.

The Head of State also approached the booth of the specuk bolu cake seller.

"Is this cake made by yourself?", asked the President to the merchant.

"Yes, sir himself," answered Sri, a bolu cake seller.

During the visit, the people of Surakarta were reportedly enthusiastic about welcoming the President.

President Jokowi also came to a visitor named Nafiah who shouted to call him.

Nafiah admitted that she was happy and did not expect to meet President Jokowi when she wanted to celebrate the new year.

"My son wants to (celebrate) the new year, then he wants to see fireworks here. I didn't expect to meet Pak Jokowi to ask for a photo. O Allah, I'm nervous," said Nafiah enthusiastically.

The Head of State also summoned a community named Wani. Wani also expressed his happiness to be able to meet with the Head of State.

"I'm really happy, I didn't expect, this is new, recently, I'm amazed, I'm very happy. (The president) is rich in angels," said Wani.

After traveling around, President Jokowi returned to his residence. The community also enjoyed the beauty of fireworks in Surakarta City.
