JAKARTA - Golkar Party Legislative Candidate Dhifla Wiyani clarified the campaign props in the form of billboards that received protests from residents and were widely discussed on social media.
"Alhamdulillah, after we stay in touch, we can understand each other for the misunderstanding that occurred, we agreed to make peace as before," he said in a written statement in Jakarta, Antara, Sunday, December 31.
Dhifla is a Golkar candidate in the West Sumatra Election Area (West Sumatra) II. The case began when a billboard was installed by Dhifla's success team, which was considered to have closed the logo of a cafe owned by residents.
The installation of billboards in front of Cafe Tan Malaka, at the Tolang Nagari Hall, Guguak VIII Koto, is legal because the billboard iron pole is Dhifla's personal property.
"I made the billboard iron pole in 2019 when I ran for a legislative candidate, unfortunately the cafe owner or tenant lacked communication with the land owner who is my own family," he explained.
Dhifla explained that the ownership status of the cafe land belongs to his father's family who is rented out to a businessman. However, without knowing, the lease was transferred to another tenant.
It turned out that the new tenant did not communicate to the owner of the Dhifla Wiyani family land.
As a law-abiding person, Dhifla apologized to those who protested him. Dhifla tries to meet with cafe entrepreneur Tan Malaka, and the two parties have reconciled, understanding each other's problems.
"I will re-mount the billboards next week, because my family ordered me to install them back there. This time I asked my family to also be present at the location, at the time of installation. So that no one would take the wrong actions again," he asserted.
