North Korean leader Kim Jong Un said at a Labor Party meeting on Saturday that Pyongyang plans to launch three new reconnaissance satellites in 2024 following their first satellite launch in November, according to state media.
According to Kim, Pyongyang will increase its nuclear arsenal next year in line with the expansion of security cooperation between the United States, South Korea and Japan which further endangers the Korean Peninsula, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said on Sunday.
Kim said inter-Korean relations had become a relationship between two hostile countries and two warring parties and Seoul saw Pyongyang as their "major enemy".

He underlined North Korea has not fully achieved a five-year national defense plan since 2021 and calls for increased underwater power.
The year-end party meeting which was held on Tuesday aims to review North Korea's policies throughout 2023 as well as to discuss next year's budget draft.
During the meeting, it was unanimously agreed on six agendas, including changes to the budget and personnel, KCNA said.
