JAKARTA - Spokesperson for COVID-19 Vaccination from the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) Siti Nadia Tarmizi explained the mechanism for the elderly or elderly to get access to the COVID-19 vaccine.

"There are two options for the registration mechanism and the implementation of vaccination for the elderly," Nadia said in an online press conference broadcast on the YouTube account of the Indonesian Ministry of Health, Friday, February 19.

The first option, he continued, could be vaccinated in elderly health care facilities such as public and private health centers and hospitals.

If the elderly use this mechanism, what they have to do first is register by visiting the Ministry of Health's website, namely www.kemkes.go.id or the website of the Committee for Handling COVID-19 and National Economic Recovery (KPCPEN) at covid19.go.id.

The two sites have a link that can be clicked on by the elderly and in it there will be a number of questions that must be filled in.

"In filling in the data, vaccination targets or the elderly can ask for help from other family members or through the head of the local RT or RW," he explained.

"So, this vaccination process or the registration process through the website at kemkes.go.id or the KPCPEN covid19.go.id website, the vaccination market can be assisted by families or local RT RWs," he added.

Nadia explained that the links available on the two websites will simultaneously update the links that have previously been circulating in the community. "With this new link, the links that have been circulating cannot be reused," he said.

If a potential vaccine participant has already filled in the link, he said there is no need to worry even though it is inaccessible. This is because the data that has been registered is guaranteed safe and has been stored in the existing data of the provincial health office where they live.

In addition, they also no longer need to register on the newly available link. "Furthermore, the health office will determine the schedule and include the day, hour and time as well as the location of the vaccination for the elderly," he said.

Meanwhile, the second mechanism, vaccination for the elderly can be carried out by organizations or institutions in collaboration with the Ministry of Health or the health office, both provincial and district / city.

He gave an example of organizations that can carry out mass vaccinations are organizations of retirees such as retired state civil servants (ASN), Pepabri or the TNI-Polri retired army, or the Republic of Indonesia Veterans Legion.

In addition, religious organizations or social organizations can also carry out mass vaccinations. "After confirming the existence of this mass information, the organization or institution will carry out data collection and registration of the target community for the elderly in their respective areas," he explained.

Subsequently, the data is reported so that these organizations and institutions will cooperate with the provincial and district / city health offices to determine the implementation including the timing of mass vaccinations.

"The organization will notify the participants who have registered the schedule and place for mass vaccination," he said.

Later, the vaccine that will be used for the elderly is the same type of vaccine as the previous stage, namely the Sinovac vaccine.

"The vaccines used are the same. Namely the vaccine made by Biofarma, namely the COVID-19 vaccine or the vaccine from Sinovac," he concluded.
