Gus Miftah's Video Of Sharing Viral Money, TPN Ganjar-Mahfud: Ulama Should Give An Example

JAKARTA - Deputy for Law for TPN Ganjar-Mahfud, Todung Mulya Lubis reminded ulama to set an example for the community. They are asked to be careful in their attitude, especially in the midst of the 2024 presidential election.

This was conveyed by Todung in response to the viral video of Gus Miftah distributing money on Twitter or X social media. The cleric was seen holding a group of money and distributing it to the public and at the same time there were residents who showed a T-shirt with the number two pair, Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

"Gus Miftah should be more careful in doing this kind of thing. Gus Miftah, he is known as a scholar, as a kiai, well, he should set a good example," Todung told reporters at the Media Center TPN Ganjar-Mahfud, Menteng, Central Jakarta, Friday, December 29.

Todung didn't want to talk much about the video because he could have been framed. However, he also did not justify the distribution of money if it was true related to the implementation of the presidential election.

"Don't be trapped or stabbed by other people who are completely irresponsible because that's not allowed to be done actually," he said.

Moreover, this kind of video can lead to perceptions even though Gus Miftah has made clarifications. "Especially by the media and social media and the public, whose level of political awareness is low," said Todung.

Meanwhile, Secretary of the National Campaign Team (TKN) Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka, Nusron Waid said that the distribution of money by Gus Miftah was not part of money politics. Moreover, the cleric was not part of the success team of the number two pair.

"It's his personal rights and activities. He is not a legislative candidate, not a member of a political party, not an administrator, not a volunteer, a campaign team, nor is he a member of the national campaign team and the Prabowo-Gibran region," Nusron told reporters.

"So the person concerned is an ordinary citizen. So that it is not bound by the Election Law. The person concerned is also not a civil servant, nor is it a BUMN employee, nor is it a BUMD employee.
